The report contains information of the procedures for the export of horses including procedures at the ports of embarkation, the voyage, the ports the horses are going to, methods of killing, proposals from the RSPCA and reports on the conditions of ports and slaughter houses.

The article is a response to a statement made by the Earl of Haddington about the poor conditions in two Scottish knackeries.
